He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” He is amazed that the God of the universe would sing over us. We are so very special to Him.
Rose Mary Shelton, CLC Director
I am Rose Mary Shelton, Director of Bruce Creative Learning Center. I am married to my best friend, Jan Shelton. We have two children. Chris Shelton and his wife Sandi have two children, Mikayla and Conner. Steven and his wife Kristi have two children, Janna and Ian. We have lived in Bruce since 1970.
I have been in the daycare ministry since January 5, 1981. When I was a young girl, I often dreamed of being a missionary. Never did I imagine that I could serve the Lord in the small town of Bruce at the Lord's Church at Bruce First Baptist. This ministry is such a passion of mine. It is such a wonderful way to share the love of Jesus with so many children and their parents. Since 1981, we have served approximately 530 children and have employed over 50 staff members, including Co-op students. I am currently caring for children whose parents I have kept in the past. It is such an honor and a priviledge to be able to serve the Lord in this ministry. Children are like a sponge that soaks up all that you teach them, which makes our job so easy to share the gospel. I have been blessed beyond measure through this ministry. It was eight years before we had a profession of faith that was a decision of the teaching vfom this ministry. Not long after that, we had a father and his son to be baptised on the same day. What a joy and encouragement that was for me. God has allowed me to see so many children decide to trust the lord over 36 years. Each time it just gets sweeter and sweeter to see God at work in these young lives.
People often ask me when I am going to retire. My answer has always been, "I don't want to work one day longer than the Lord wants me to, but I don't want to retire one day before he tells me to". My husband often replies to people about my retirement, "That is between God and Rose Mary!" I have loved every moment of the journey. I feel so honored to have been allowed the priviledge. God is good ALL THE TIME.
